Bylaws - Sheila Solernou The by-laws committee is responsible for ensuring that the organization follows its current by-laws and adheres to the documented processes and procedures established by CLN. On a periodic basis, committee members will review the existing by-laws and modify, if necessary, our organizational practices. In addition, CLN will closely monitor the National League for Nursing (NLN) by-laws and practices to ensure our compliance as a constituent league.
Finance - Susan McGinnis
The Finance Committee standing members include the Treasurer, who serves as chair, the President-elect, and at least three other individual members of the CLN. This committee’s responsibilities include:
- Recommending annual budgets and long term financial plans to the CLN Board
- Providing financial oversight by assuring adequate financial resources, advising on short- and long-term investments, and reviewing fund-raising, employment practices, and internal and external audits
Membership - Judy Catalano
Chaired by the President-Elect, the membership committee manages CLN's membership roster, and recommends ways to increase CLN membership. Additional responsibilities include:
- Attracting and retaining individual members, organizational members, and corporate supporters
- Producing the annual membership directory
- Enhancing the value of membership
- Collaborating with other organizations to support CLN activities
Nominating - Jan Costello
The Nominations Committee consists of five members, four of which are individual CLN members elected at the annual meeting in the manner provided in Article VIII of the by-laws, and one Director appointed by the Board, who will serve as chair. If any vacancy occurs on this committee, the Board shall appoint a successor to complete the term. The committee prepares and presents a report setting forth a slate of candidates, consisting of two candidates for each position eligible for election at the upcoming annual meeting. Candidates shall be individual members in the CLN and reflect the wide-ranging membership of the CLN.
Program - Jane Murdock & Laura Brown Yaworsky
The Program committee plans programs that meet the needs of CLN's members and the Connecticut nursing community. Planning includes, but is not limited to three annual events:
- Annual spring convention, combining education and practice
- RN Student Day
- LPN Student Day
The fall student days attract over 1400 nursing students each year. They provide students within a semester of graduating the opportunity to meet with potential employers and learn about preparing for a job search. Scholarships are also presented at these annual meetings.
Scholarship - Jo-Ann Dean
The Scholarship committee coordinates scholarship activities for CLN. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Promoting CLN scholarships to inform as many nursing students as possible
- Reviewing applications for scholarships to be awarded at Student Day conferences and recommending award recipients
- Raising funds to maintain the scholarships
