View Required Paperwork
These refresher programs were developed by CLN to prepare RNs and LPNs - who have been out of the clinical practice setting for three to ten years - to return to bedside practice. Clinical experiences will prepare the nurse for a medical/surgical staff position in a hospital or a practice in long-term care or home health care.
Each program provides the RN or LPN with up-to-date content, reflecting the current scope and standards of nursing practice. Programs are offered in modules: 3 for RNs and 2 for LPNs. Modules I (for both) and II (for RNs) are offered entirely online and are accessible 24/7. The final module is the supervised clinical practicum at a cooperating hospital or long-term care facility.
Participants must successfully complete all modules to earn a refresher course certificate. Others interested in taking one or both of the online modules for personal enrichment may do so and can earn continuing education credit.
RN Refresher
NUR 100NC Module One addresses basic concepts and skills with universal application in the care of patients experiencing a variety of health care problems, with a focus on skills review.
NUR 100NC Module Two focuses on selected health problems for which there have been recent therapeutic advances. In each instance, the pathophysiological and psychosocial aspects of the problem are explored, and the contemporary medical/surgical, pharmacological and nursing regimens are examined. Primary emphasis is on new knowledge development.
NUR 100NC Module Three consists of a supervised, hands-on, clinical practicum in a cooperating hospital or long-term care facility providing direct care to patients. The clinical experience will integrate the new knowledge and updated skills addressed in the first two modules at the bedside. Experiences will be designed by a clinical coordinator and supervised by a nurse mentor in the hospital or long-term care unit to which you are assigned. (CLN will arrange for your clinical practicum and every effort will be made to place you in a facility geographically convenient to your home or workplace.)
