About the Honoree
Holding leadership roles with Connecticut League for Nursing (CLN) for over two decades, Jane E. Murdock has positively influenced the work and direction of the League! As a member of the CLN Board of Directors from 1991 to 2014, Jane served as Member-at-Large, President, Secretary and Treasurer; and currently on the CLN Program Committee, first as a member and now as Chair, since 2000.
As one of two nurse leaders spearheading CLN's successful Online Education initiatives, Jane wrote for grant funding that led to the development of five online courses: LPN to RN Articulation Bridge Course; RN Refresher Course; Perioperative Nursing Course; Home Care Nursing Course; and Clinical Faculty Course. She is the Coordinator of the LPN to RN Articulation Course since its inception in 2001.
Based on her dedication and commitment, in 2011 CLN established the Jane E. Murdock Nursing Excellence Award to recognize a nurse who has committed their career to the pursuit of Life-long Learning.
Jane's most recent efforts include: Helping the CT Nursing Collaborative-Action Coalition develop and launch a 4-module online Population Health Course to be launched in April 2017; and holding the role of Nurse Planner for CLN's ANCC Approved Provider Unit allowing for CLN to award Continuing Education Units for our various educational offerings.
Early in Jane's career, she served as Captain and Major in the Air National Guard for seven years as a flight nurse, first in the 60's while working in staff positions in Utah and in New Hampshire. Her nursing education career began as Faculty and Clinical Instructor at the University of Utah, College of Nursing; Faculty and Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts, School of Nursing; and for over two decades at the University of Connecticut in the roles of: Faculty, Assistant Dean, Director of Continuing Education, Associate Dean, and Interim Dean.
